Before teaching Secondary School Drama at Berlin International School, Brian had a long history in professional theater and comedy improvisation performance and production. As a founding member of ComedySportz in 1985, he co-created 'short-form' improvisational comedy format that is so popular today. In Germany, he established Laughing Lizard Productions in 2005, which produces improvisational comedy shows, including ComedyShorts-Berlin and founded the Laughing Lizard Playhouse in Berlin- Mitte. He also co-founded Spirit Yoga und Spa Gmbh in 2004, which is recognized as one of the leading Yoga Studios of Europe.
He holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Theater Management from California State University- Long Beach, and he graduated with Distinguished Honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Theater and Communicative Disorders. He is a certified English Teacher and Interpreter for the Deaf.
In 2003, he was on the production team for the Tony Award-nominated Broadway revival of Big River with Deaf West Theater and the Roundabout Theater in NYC, USA. He founded the Laughing Lizard Lounge Comedy Club, in Washington D.C., in 1988 to explore the relationship between audience and artist.
He co-directed the musicals at Berlin International School, including: The Lion King, Shrek the Musical, Jr., and Alice in Wonderland, Jr. and High School Musical, Jr., and this year will be directing Legally Blonde, Jr.
He is currently writing a text-book on Teaching English through Improv Comedy and Roleplays.
