Aki Schwan is an EAL and Japanese teacher, dedicated to helping students excel in both international school curricula and their native language development. Currently, Aki teaches DP Japanese A Language & Literature and will be introducing Japanese Ab Initio in 2025-26. As the DP SSST Language A Coordinator, Aki oversees languages such as Dutch, French, Italian, and Korean. Additionally, Aki serves as the MYP Home Language supervisor for Grade 9, teaches MYP English B at the Newcomer Center (Phase 1 & 2) for mixed Grades 6-8, and mentors MYP4 students.
Prior to joining Bavarian International School, Aki spent eleven years teaching at Japanese supplementary and language schools in the U.S. and Germany. Aki has also contributed to the research project “Language Development of Bilingual Children” since 2012.
Aki Schwan currently resides in Munich, Germany.
