Round Table for DP German A Teachers
Friday September 20, 2024 10:00am - 5:00pm CEST
TBA
We suggest a roundtable to facilitate the exchange of experience regarding the DP German A course. These sessions should address all areas of the curriculum.
We recognise the necessity of bringing together German teachers from international schools to promote dialogue and collaboration. Our emphasis lies in facilitating discussions on feedback regarding the exam papers, subject report content, and assessment outcomes. We seek to address expectations and quality concerns, particularly relevant when comparing German schools offering the IB curriculum versus IB schools with predominantly English as the language of instruction.
Our objective is not an instructional workshop but rather collegial discourse, fostering the exchange of content, materials, and strategies. Key topics include comparing Lang&Lit versus Lit courses and determining which best serves student needs, considering the dual demands of Lang&Lit. Additionally, we should explore the effective implementation of skills within the MYP framework to prepare for the demands of our DP courses.

Proposed Workshop Structure:
introduction and guided discussion: providing an overview and presenting excerpts from subject reports, stimulating open questions and reflections among participants
small group discussions: breaking into smaller groups to delve deeper into specific topics, such as exam feedback, curriculum expectations, or teaching strategies
sharing and synthesis: reconvening to share insights and findings from their discussions, promoting the exchange and enrichment of ideas and experiences
closing remarks: summary of key takeaways and suggestions for future collaboration, as well as collated feedback and resources

suggested platform(s): Padlet

suggested schedule:
- 20-30 minutes: introduction
- 2 hours: Paper 1, Paper 2, Extended Essay
- 2 hours: Higher Level Essay, Individual Orals; material exchange
- 1 hour: presentation of results, wrap-up
