At the International School of Stuttgart, we are looking towards increased collaboration through team teaching, especially as we transition into our new building. However, during the past few years, the upper school mathematics department have already been piloting different forms of co-teaching models, such as lead-support, team teaching, parallel teaching and circuit teaching. Please do join the two of us as we share our experience of co-teaching with you all.

Having a good memory brings enormous advantages: Learnt information and factual contexts can be stored and easily recalled so that academic transfer tasks can be solved more easily. A good memory therefore leads to better performance and greater productivity in the school context. In language teaching in particular, it is important to effectively learn and memorise terminology, such as rhetorical devices, so that they can be called up at any time in different contexts. In this workshop various mnemonic activities (Loci, chunking, association, rhymes, acrostics, acronyms, stacking...) to improve memory performance in language lessons will be presented and practised. The examples are designed for language teaching, but the exercises can easily be transferred to other subjects.

A compilation of tried and tested ways to use pop culture to your advantage in a language classroom: music, films, genres. A workshop that shares how in an interactive way.
Participants will be introduced to a range of novels from around the world that are suitable for G6-12. We will discuss themes that are relevant to students across the MYP/DP, and share resources for teachers and librarians. Participants will leave with a new understanding of these books as well as resources for further exploration of books in translation.
How do we ensure that we understand our students’ thinking processes? How can we provide feedback more efficiently and effectively?
This session will build on the experience of the presenters who have been using thinking routines for the past couple of years. These thinking routines will be shared so that participants can obtain practical teaching practices, such as by providing more efficient and effective feedback, increasing more collaboration between students and ensuring that students are thinking at increasingly higher levels. These thinking routines can also be used in wider contexts as well, such as department or staff meetings.
